Everything you need to know about our town all in one place

Taralga is one of the most beautiful, historic and surprising townships in the Southern Tablelands.

On the way to the spectacular Wombeyan Caves, Taralga is a friendly and character-filled town, known for its fine collection of buildings from the 1800s, emerging foodie scene (The Argyle Inn), homewares store (open weekends), art gallery, General Store (7 days), Rural Supply and Fuel Shop (Mon - Sat noon) and home to the famous Taralga Australia Day Rodeo and Art Show.

Built on land donated by the son of wool pioneer John Macarthur, Taralga was cleared and developed by convicts in the mid 1800s. Explore this history on the self-guided Taralga Heritage Walking Tour, which takes you past the heritage listed Christ the King Catholic Church.

Step back in time at the Taralga Historical Society Museum. This museum is home to a colonial cottage, slab dairy, shearing shed, blacksmith complex, all complete with colonial style fittings and furnishings. The Museum is open from 10:00 to 14:00 Saturdays and located on Orchard St, next to the Public School on the north end of the Village.
